This Pyro Board Creates Audio Visualizations With 2,500 Flames

The scientific minds behind Fysikshow at Aarhus University in Denmark have taken the traditional Rubens’ Tube to a whole new level. Known as the ‘Pyro Board,’ it functions much like the Rubens’ Tube where the sound-responsive flame patterns are created by the transmission of sound waves through a flammable gas creating high and low pressure zones. By adding a second dimension and a total of 2,500 holes, the Pyro Board brings the physics antique back to life while creating an alluring display that beautifully demonstrates the behavior of sound waves.
