Cindy Chinn is a full time artist that lives out of a 33,000 square foot building previously used as a school in Chester, Nebraska. Chinn likes trying her hands at all types of art mediums, and her latest endeavor includes a simple carpenter pencil transformed into a stunningly detailed train.
Chinn always enters the Annual Miniature Show but she typically does so with clay sculptures. This year she wanted to compete with something new. The artist writes, “I’ve been seeing carved pencils and pencil leads online for the past few years and REALLY wanted to try my hand at it.” So she did… and the results are mind blowing!
It wasn’t ‘all aboard’ the first try. In fact, the first train carving Chinn worked on didn’t make her very happy, “…it was too long and misshapen.” The second time around Chinn made a print out of the train in order to “find size and placement of key details.”
